In this article, we’ll show you exactly how to make the Winflector server start automatically after the Windows is rebooted.
Motivation
Generally, a well configured server environment should be as automatic as possible. A part of this is making sure that all server software starts when the operating system boots up. Winflector can easily be configured to do this.
Many people want to know how to do this. Users have written:
- One of my clients requested Winflector to autostart even when he doesn’t log in.
- I looked through the FAQ and the docs, but I haven’t found the answer to how to start the server in the service mode, so you don’t have to log in a user.
- When I restart the PC, every time I’ll have to click the Winflector Server icon and then click on the Start button.
- How can I add the Winflector Server to autostart, so it launches automatically without pressing the Start button?
- Can Winflector be launched as a service?
- … and on it goes
How to make Winflector start automatically after the Windows is rebooted?
It’s very simple:
- Launch the Winflector Server.
- Go to Preferences.
- Go to Options.
- Check the Enable automatic Winflector start after reboot box.
- A Window will pop up.
- Fill in the current user’s password.
- Make sure the Lock workstation after automatic login box is checked.
- Click the Enable ‘autologin’ button.
- You’re done.
It takes under a minute. Now that you’ve configured the software to autostart, what will happen when you restart?
- The computer will log in to the designated account for a very brief period, under a second.
- The session will lock.
- Winflector will launch.
There are two things to remember regarding this process. First of all, the server might take up to three minutes to launch after such a restart, though it usually be faster. Wait for at least five before you start investigating. The second caveat is that if you want to use the computer interactively, you mustn’t log off from the Winflector Server session. You can Lock or Switch User, though.
That’s it. Enjoy your autostarting Winflector Server!
